Event: «ChatGPT & Co. – eine Chance für Forschung und Lehre?»

Interactive language models amaze people. How did these machine learning successes come about? Do they have semantics and abstraction capabilities? And what do they mean for research and teaching at the University of Zurich in the long term?

This event (in German) - organized by DSI and the Department of Computational Linguistics at UZH - will discuss the phenomenon of ChatGPT & Co. from the perspective of different disciplines on March 9, 2023. Computational linguistics can explain how the technology was developed, how it works and what approaches exist for its further development. But all subjects that work with language, code and data are relevant to this technology - from philology to media research. A panel and plenary discussion will explore the potential of interactive language models in a controversial way.
