Due to the proliferation of ChatGPT, the capabilities of (generative) artificial intelligence (AI) have recently become the focus of public debate. The Strategy Lab «AI in education, research and innovation - what do we lose, what do we gain?» takes these public discussions as an opportunity to reflect in depth on the opportunities and risks of AI in a context that is significant for universities: the field of higher education/vocational training, research and innovation – i.e. the spectrum commonly covered by the «Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation (SBFI)».
The objectives and recommendations of the third DSI Strategy Lab have been summarized in a position paper. They are divided into three groups and relate to the areas of «learners», «teachers» and «researchers». For each group of recommendations, the respective addressees from the fields of education policy, administration, universities and other possible stakeholders are named. Boxes contain further information.
The final editing of the position paper was carried out by Abraham Bernstein, Markus Christen and Judit Martinez Moreno.
The position paper of the third DSI Strategy Lab is available here in three language versions:
Two UZH News articles (in German) have been published about the position paper / project: «Die Lehre wird interaktiver und intensiver werden» und «KI-Tools im Studienalltag».
