Before Studying: Questions regarding your application

Question:

Can I apply when not already studying at the UZH?

Answer:

No. Starting in HS 24 (2024 Fall Semester) only students already registered at UZH can apply for the DSI Minor Digital Skills. The application is only open to students who are currently completing their bachelor’s degree at UZH (by the end of the FS/2024 Spring Semester) and intend to pursue their master’s degree at UZH (starting from HS/2024 Fall Semester). It's also available to current master students at UZH who plan to change their Master Minor (by HS/2024 Fall Semester).
 

While Studying: Questions regarding the study path and content

Question:

Which courses do I have to take in the first semester?

Answer:

In the first semester (HS 24/2024 Fall Semester), students of the DSI Minor Digital Skills must attend the compulsory courses «Teamwork on Digital Transformation Challenges I» (P / 3 ECTS), «Digital Transformation – a Scientific Overview» (P / 3 ECTS), and «Intermediate Python Programming» (P / 3ECTS). To make planning easier for students, all courses will take place monday (#minormonday) allowing you to freely plan the rest of your week.

If you want to obtain more ECTS in the first semester, you can freely choose from a wide range of different courses offered within the DSI Minor Digital Skills (seeVVZ for current offer).
 

Further questions

Question:

Can I study the DSI Minor Digital Skills when not having prior knowledge in (Python) Programming?

Answer:

Yes. You will be introduced to Programming through the elective course «Programming Bootcamp» and the compulsory course «Intermediate Python Programming» in your first semester.



Question:

Do I need to enroll in the compulsory module «Intermediate Python Programming», if I already have Python competencies.

Answer:

If you are already experienced in Python and you can demonstrate your skills through certificates or successfully completed courses at UZH, you can substitute the courses with advanced modules from the module group «Programming, Machine Learning & AI».
