Research area

I’m a computational linguist with the focus includes multimodality, human interaction, and software design for language research. I lead the CAPIRE project, searching for uni-modal and multi-modal person identification patterns in behavioral signals of vocal acoustics and speech, facial expressions and gestures, used in a communication setting. CAPIRE includes doctoral researchers Masoumeh Chapariniya and Aref Farhadipour. Besides revealing personal identity, we experiment with data anonymization techniques, ensuring quality is retained for applications like pose recognition and speech transcription while maintaining privacy. Furthermore, CAPIRE is creating ethical guidelines for handling multimodal behavioral data responsibly.

Academic Career

I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the VIAN-DH project, at Linguistic Research Infrastructure, developing software and methodology for multimodal analysis of human interaction based on videos. I am also involved in the CineMinds project, processing a large collection of interviews about film making to extract didactic content.
I obtained my doctoral degree with Prof. Barbara Sonnenhauser at the Slavisches Seminar, at the University of Zurich, in the TraCeBa project, dealing with quantitative analysis of dialectal variation in a corpus of spoken language. Before that I worked in several corpus linguistics and spoken language projects at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Belgrade and Humboldt University in Berlin.
