Research area
I am an interdisciplinary post-doctoral researcher working in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, digital accessibility, disability studies, AI ethics, and human-computer interaction. As a curious person, I draw on theories and methods from these different areas and strive to collaborate with researchers embracing interdisciplinarity. In particular, I am interested in building a common understanding and bridging the gap between research and implementation.
My research aims to better understand how to design and implement an AI assistant in higher education in an inclusive manner. While my doctoral research focused specifically on the experiences of students with disabilities, I now take an intersectional approach that includes the perspectives of students who face systemic barriers in tertiary education such as students with disabilities, students from a low-social-economic background, first-generation students, students with caring responsibilities, or those with a migration background. Only by centering these perspectives can universities develop tools that truly serve all students.

Project
My research is part of the AI Buddy project, which aims to develop an AI assistant for all students at UZH. My research creates space for innovation in tool development and also allows us to share our experience internationally. Peer feedback is a valuable opportunity to improve our project. The AI buddy adopts a failure-friendly approach: while we strive for excellence, we welcome feedback from both students (whose lived experience brings their own expertise) and academic experts. Our guiding values are to make the AI Buddy student-centered, inclusive, open, and designed with strong data protection.
In addition to my research activities, I lead the project’s branding work, drawing on my skills in communication. I also support the user experience process and provide expertise in digital accessibility.
