Short portrait

Farid Zeroual (*1962) has been a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council and mayor of Adliswil since 2018. In addition to his functions as a member of the authorities, he has been working as an independent IT consultant since 2016.

Prior to that, Zeroual held various management positions in the architecture and expansion of data centers in the financial industry for around 25 years. During this time, he experienced and shaped the transformation of mainframe computers from proprietary in-house systems to highly available internet and mobile banking data servers.

Through his experience as a city councilor, he is very familiar with the challenges of digitalization in public administration. The focus is not primarily on the technical possibilities, but on creating the legally and socially required framework conditions. As a member of the Cantonal Council's Finance Commission, Zeroual, in the ICT subcommittee, dealt with IT strategies within the cantonal administration.

After his basic training as an electronics technician with a federal diploma, Zeroual completed various further training courses to become a mainframe system engineer and also obtained a business diploma.
