Application Procedure

To enroll in the DSI Minor Digital Skillsstarting in the 2024 Fall Semester (HS 24), apply within the application window March 4 until April 15, 2024.

The application is a 2-step-procedure, where you first apply for the Master’s minor program, and second register for the DSI Minor Digital Skills (see detailed information below).

Important: Starting in the 2024 Fall Semester (HS 24) only students matriculated at UZH can apply for the DSI Minor Digital Skills. That means that you can only apply if you are either an UZH student who intends to continue with a Master's degree at UZH after finishing your Bachelor’s degree at UZH by spring 23 or an UZH student who is already in the Master’s and wants to change their Master’s minor program (see also
Changing Degree and/or Study Program within UZH).

Before applying: Check first if your (intended) Master’s major (90 ECTS) allows a combination with the DSI Minor Digital Skills (30 ECTS). See a full list of Master’s degree program from within a major 90 ECTS allows a combination with the DSI Minor Digital Skills (30 ECTS) here. (PDF, 151 KB)

Step 1: Application

Apply for the DSI Minor Digital Skills within the application window from March 4 until April 15, 2024 here.

Please provide the following documents in English:

  • a letter of motivation (max. 500 words), answering the following questions:
    • What motivates you to choose the Master's minor DSI Minor Digital Skills?
    • What study program do you plan to choose as your Master's major?
    • Which of your (digital) skills/qualities can others benefit from?
    • Which skills/competencies would you like to develop?
  • a current curriculum vitae (CV) (without picture) containing academic achievements and certificates as well as professional experiences (if any)
  • the bachelor certificate (including also the transcript of records) OR if not finished yet, the current transcript of records (as of fall 2023/HS 23) and later on submit the bachelor certificate (by September 21, 2024 at the latest)

Language requirements: The language of instruction is English. Language skills of at least level C1 are therefore required. Some elective modules are only offered in German. In order to be able to benefit from the entire program, German language skills are an advantage.

Our turn: Examination of the application and decision

Upon receipt of your application, the DSI Admissions Committee will review your application and decide on your acceptance to the DSI Minor Digital Skills. The decision is based on the individual documents and the overall student cohort.

We will be happy to inform you via email with a letter of acceptance by May 14, 2024 about your admission to our study program.

Step 2: Change of Degree or Study Program

With our DSI Minor Digital Skills letter of acceptance you can request a «Change of Degree and/or Study Program» via the student portal: https://studentservices.uzh.ch/ during the request period from May 15 until August 31, 2024. Note: the letter of acceptance needs to be uploaded within this process.
