The paper «‘We Need Time...’: An Expert Survey on Societal Acceptance of Urban Drones» by Dr. Ning Wang, Dr. Nico Mutzner, and Prof. Dr. Karl Blanchet was published in the current issue of the journal «Science and Public Policy».
Drones are increasingly becoming an important part of urban air mobility. Their integration into urban environments depends not only on general public opinion, but also on the views of the experts who drive their development, deployment and management.
In this context, DSI members Ning Wang and Nico Mutzner, together with Karl Blanchet, have published the paper «‘We Need Time...’: An Expert Survey on Societal Acceptance of Urban Drones» in the journal «Science and Public Policy». The article addresses the perspectives of experts on urban drones in order to supplement existing knowledge by better understanding the factors of acceptance and the challenges associated with them. The results show that the issues of data protection, security and regulation are recurring themes. Above all, trust in the various institutions that use drones varies, while the need for dedicated awareness and education efforts to inform public understanding is an emergent theme.
