The Digital Society Initiative (DSI) of the University of Zurich is focusing this year on the topic of disinformation. Under the title «DSI Disinformation Month», it is organizing public events and other activities on the topic in fall.
The topic of disinformation has become increasingly important in recent years. The DSI is focusing on this in its fourth Strategy Lab and has thus laid out its thematic focus for 2024. In this context, the DSI is organizing the «DSI Disinformation Month». It consists of public events and many other activities that shed light on disinformation and how to deal with it from different perspectives.
The public events kick off on October 18 with a lecture organized by the DSI Community Communication titled «Zwischen Fakten und Fiktion: Wie digitale Entwicklungen und Desinformation die öffentliche Meinung weltweit beeinflussen».
On October 30, the DSI Community Democracy invites you to a talk titled «Everything You Know About Disinformation is Wrong» and explores the question of how serious the threat of disinformation really is.
The event series concludes on November 6 with the event «Fighting Disinformation – The Need for a Digital Public Space». This includes a lecture by Marleen Stikker from Waag Futurelab Amsterdam, followed by a panel discussion with H.E. Karin Mössenlechner, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Switzerland, and Benedikt Wechsler, Ambassador & Head of Division for Digitalisation, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Switzerland).
Other non-public events and activities are also taking place as part of DSI Disinformation Month. An overview (including events by the Zentralbibliothek Zürich) can be found here: Link
