The DSI at the AI+X Summit 2024: insights into AI trends and exciting contributions from UZH

The AI+X Summit at the beginning of October 2024 offered researchers and academics the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Of course, the University of Zurich (UZH) was there too – represented by the Digital Society Initiative (DSI).

The AI+X Summit, organized by the ETH AI Center in collaboration with the ZHAW and the UZH, offered researchers and academics the opportunity to explore the latest developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) on October 3 and 4, 2024.

The Digital Society Initiative (DSI) was honored to represent the University of Zurich at the Summit 2024.

In the exhibition area, visitors were able to experience a buzzer game developed especially for the summit to find out what the Swiss population thinks about AI and to learn from eight DSI experts about a wide range of AI topics – from «AI & Accessibility» to «AI & Neuromorphic Engineering» and «AI & Religion».

The DSI was represented on the main stage with two keynotes: DSI Co-Director Noah Bubenhofer gave a lecture on «What you need to know about language in order to use AI effectively» and DSI Professor Anikó Hannák on the topic «New Faces of Bias in Online Platforms».

And finally, the DSI held the workshop «Responsible AI» (PDF, 58 KB), which looked at this exciting topic from three different perspectives: computer science, digital ethics and law.

In connection with the DSI's appearance at the AI+X Summit, an article was also published in UZH News (in German) on the topic of «AI & Neuromorphic Engineering» and the work of DSI Postdoc Chiara De Luca.
