Workshop: Medical Knowledge In and Out of the Clinic
The aim of the workshop is to explore the role of digitalization on the communication of medical knowledge in different knowledge domains and how medical knowledge obtained via digital tools such as Google affect the doctor-patient relationship and shared decision-making. The workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers, health practitioners and interested members of the public to discuss topics around medical knowledge creation and exchange, flow and transfer within and between different knowledge domains.
The main objectives of the workshop are to understand from interdisciplinary perspectives:
- the effects of digitalization on transforming medical knowledge
- changes in the availability and accessibility of information
- effects of medical knowledge on patient-doctor relationships
The presentations will cover such topics as:
- Medical knowledge overflow
- Role of digital companions
- Strengthening communication through trusted EHRs
- Capabilities of large language models
